    Question
How can a person stab someone 18 times. Stabbing once, I can understand. But 18 times seems to be like the Christo-fascist Germans wanted her murder. I know in the US courts there are always police in the court and they should stop a violent act. Am I being unreasonable in trying to understand how this could have happened?

    Answer
We all have the same inquiries on our minds and websites have discussed this. How was the killer able to stab Marwa 18 times without anybody stopping him?! Some people have tried to defend German judicial system saying that the security system allows this in some courts in Germany, no security grads, which gave the murderer a chance to end her life so easily with this shocking number of stabs in addition to the stabs received by her husband while trying to protect her.

But these are no valid justifications at all. The German judicial system was supposed to shun the racist label away by making an immediate, just verdict against the killer, one that parallels the horror of the crime. But this didnt happen. All these details confirm the idea that Muslims have formed about the entrenched racism and hate against Muslims.

    Question
    Salam,

Thanks for taking the time to respond to our questions. I ' ve been contemplating wearing the hijab, but I am afraid that I will be discriminate against, in the same way this young lady was. What words of wisdom can you provide me with.

    Salam
    Answer
Do people think that they will be left alone on saying, "We believe", and that they will not be tested? (Al-Ankaboot 29 : 2)

This is a kind of test from Almighty Allah to see who wears the veil out of belief and who wears it for any other reason. People who wear it out of faith will not give it up whatever the reasons be and they will pass the Godly tests and make their gains.

Your sisters in Turkey suffered the banning of hijab and stopped going to universities. But Allah inspired the true Muslim Turkish people with the solution and they started establishing private universities and institutions to teach these Muslim girls. I have visited some of them and got an idea about their syllabuses and they are much better than state universities. You see, that ' s the pattern. If we give up our hijab out of fear of discrimination, that will nothing that Allah has ordered us to do. If the Companions of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had given up their creed because of the discrimination they faced, Islam wouldn ' t have reached us today.

Or sister, we have to insist on teaching people about Islam and introducing them to it. What happened was a result of the ignorance about Islam. When people know Islam, the sublime values it teaches and its tolerance, they would change from animosity to faith. This is what happened and still happens in many Western countries. Not all Westerners are anti-Muslims and anti-hijab. This may point out the need for more interaction by the Muslim community inside Germany instead of fear and withdrawal.

Muslims were able by God ' s grace to work continuously and establish official Islamic schools that are recognized in Britain for example besides the Qur ' an classes. More even, some of these schools receive state funding and the British government has built prayer areas in many of the British airports and parking areas on highways. All this has come with patience and hard work. And we are ordered to deliver the message of Islam everywhere in the world. The Prophet (peace be upon him) was sent as a mercy to the entire universe. So the role that Muslims play in the West is a key role that will be rewarded and counted in their good deeds

    Question
I don ' t like to believe that all non-Muslims hate Muslims especially in the west. But I know that they are afraid of Islam because of the way their media depicted Muslims and Islam. Are there anyways to stop such hatred? And how can the Muslim community play an active role without being targeted by their racism?

    Answer
Marmaduke said that Muslims can spread their civilization all over the world now with the same speed they did before if they return to the ethics they enjoyed when they played their first role because this void world can ' t stand in the face of the spirit of their civilization.

The major obstacles ahead of the Muslim call in Europe comes mostly from Muslims, sadly enough, and among these are the shameful behaviors of some of those counted wrongly as Muslims.

Islam spread at the climax of the Islamic era through the interaction between Muslims and non-Muslims. When the Muslim ethics were the basis like honesty, trustworthiness, true love for others, constant work on spreading Islam, giving without expecting things in return, good manners with the husband, father, mother, and children, avoiding profane language, endurance, and tolerance...etc.

If Muslims stick to these manners in dealing with non-Muslims in the West, wouldn ' t this be the basic motivation for them to join Islam. Many Western women embrace Islam when they learn about the status of women in Islam and they see how a Muslim husband treats his wife. I am talking about a true Muslim husband here and not Muslims by the name only.

As soon as Muslims notice that they are required to remove this deep ignorance about Islam in Western societies, they will start to make their moves. But they have to observe this fact. My fear is that the opposite may happens - that Muslims melt in these societies and start catching the negatives there like ethical deviations and extreme materialism and self-centered behavior, the lack of giving. etc.

    Question
    Salam,

    1. Why did Marwa ' s murder happen? And why did it take a lifetime for the people in the court to act? Is Marwa ' s husband still comatose?

    2. Was Sarkozy ' s "burka ban" a contributing factor to her murder?

    Thanks

    Answer
It is wrong to look at this crime as an individual case. It is not the first crime, nor the last crime to be committed against Muslims in the West. Every time we find ourselves before this question: why does the West hate us in this cruel way? There are many reasons behind this growing hatred and animosity.

Some Western governments are carrying out the bases unethical campaigns against Islam and Muslims, ridiculing their sentiments everywhere through a series of statements coming from key figures in the West that betray the deep abhorrence to Islam like: "crusades", "Islamofascists", and "war of changing values". All these terms were strongly present in speeches by the former American president George W. Bush and ex-British Prime Minister Tony Blair in August 2, 2006.

The military campaign in Iraq and Afghanistan targeted changing values and not only the ousting of the Saddam and Taliban regimes. Their third, former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Burlesconi and a friend of Bush, declared days after 9/11 that Islam was a religion that doesn ' t respect human rights, and the principles of pluralism, tolerance and religious freedom, and that Western civilization is more elevated that the Islamic civilization. He claimed that Westerners have to realize the superiority of their civilization and that thus civilization guarantees for its nations welfare, human rights and religious freedom and political rights.

Former British Prime Minister Galdston said that as long as the Qur ' an is in the hands of Muslims, Europe will not be able to control the East. And French governor in Algeria said a hundred years after its occupation that they have to wipe out the Qur ' an from their life and root out the Arabic language from their tongues to gain victory over them.

Although Marwa ' s death is an individual incident on a legal level, it comes in a series of hate crimes on the level of Europe and the US that we can see together with a background of the cultural, political, and media atmosphere surrounding the presence of Muslims in the West overall. Since 9/11 and the declaration of the so called "war on terror", we see clearly the strong tendency toward limiting the Islamic presence in the West through the new immigration laws, limiting obvious Islamic features like the hijab - although Christians wear a veil too and religious Jewish women wear a head cover. There has been a fever of counter "terrorism" that has become more like a fearful terrorist practice in itself.

But before blaming Western societies on their hatred to Muslims and practicing violence against them, we have to look at the practices of Western governments themselves that give a green light and strong motivation to their nations to practice the most horrifying crimes against Muslims while assured that their actions will only be met with apathy and blind eyes from the Western justice.

As for Sarkozi, can we believe that the same person who stood as a silent gazer while children were being killed and burnt in Palestine now worries about the feelings of Muslim women wearing the veil and burka who may be "oppressed" or "forced" to wear it? Do we believe that someone who doesn ' t care about Muslim women ' s right to live at all can care about their feelings and be pained for them?

Isn ' t Sarkozi the one who said before the French Parliament that Burka is not a religious issue but one that has to do with a woman ' s right and dignity? That it is not a religious symbol but an indication of enslavement and backwardness "I want to say that the burka is not welcome in France."

Hence, the Parliament encouraged a larger discussion of hijab while 50 MPs, mostly from his party considered the Islamic dress code of women, the full veil to be a threat to the secular values of the French state and equality between genders

Then they used the media to tarnish the image of Islam and Muslims and picture them as the terrorists who hurt even themselves and walk the streets in their blood. Then the bearded Muslim who hijacks a plane wearing the white jilbab and head gear then prays. I have watched these films and cried at these distortions of our image in Western media.

As for Marwa ' s husband, he has recovered from his coma, was informed of her death and was grieving over her death and his inability to protect her.

    Question
I do not why the surprise that such a thing could happen, when much worse has been happening to others in the name of one thing, but actually in the form of racism.

It is ironic that the 2009 Conference on Racism folded as it did. It shows how much the world is not prepared to let go, of what has destroyed so many lives, yet we (including those who cry racism) support the mechanisms that keep it going.

It is not a perception that one can have of another human being, no matter where they are from. Once you have racist tendencies towards one people, it will reap as it sows. How can we make people understand how important this issue is?

    Answer
The West only respect power, it doesn ' t respect the weak. Muslims in the west must speak against what happened and continue to demonstrate until a just verdict has been issued against the killer. They shouldn ' t allow the subject to die like many things before.

The West used to respect us when we defended our countries - long ago - that they occupied and looted its wealth. The West was seeking our acceptance to use our resources. And although we suffered cruel imperialism, these currently-barren lands gave birth to heroes at that time. Now, we make all offerings to the West but they wouldn ' t accept them.

Why don ' t we demonstrate their contradiction and double standards; write them on signs and walk the streets with them or face them with it. What happened in Germany was an extension of other crimes in Copenhagen and distortions of the image of Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him) and the fierce attack by Sarkozi against hijab in France and the Qur ' anic verses that fanatics wrote on Italian shoes, and the writings that attack Islam and mock Muslims in art, the press, and the media.

Some observers consider the accusations against Islam and Muslims in the media true as long as no one objected to them. A Swiss journalist once asked "where are these angry Muslims that you claim that we hurt their feelings? We look out for reactions to what we write and find nothing. They are either not there or what we right is true so they don ' t object to it."

    Question
What is the position of the position of the whole Muslim world? A mass protest is desirable worldwide. And this should serve as a lesson to Muslims that the West can never be our friends. There should be no pretense about it.

    Answer
You are right that the stance must be world wide and should include Muslims all over the world. But in Arab countries, regimes do not allow this and they practice repression and immediate dictatorship as a compliment to Western countries. So it is required of Muslims in the West to move strongly so that the rights will not be lost. The German government is now required to prove the democracy they claim to themselves and distance themselves from racism by taking a strong stand against the killer.

We have seen on TV some of the demonstrations by Muslims in some European countries saying that Muslims are not "second degree" citizens and that hijab is their choice. And these demonstrations must go on until the message is clear.

But then who said that the West can ' t be our friend. On the contrary, they can be our friends on the condition that they respect us, our religion and creed. But the situation is that they treat the Jewish, Buddhist and Hindu with respect while treating Muslims with contempt. We are ordered to spread Islam in the earth and for the sake of this, we will be harmed. But this shouldn ' t cause us withdraw, but we must have a stronger presence, be patient in the face of ignorance about Islam, and work hard to let people know about it. All this should be parallel to claiming our rights and not giving them up, especially that the laws in Western countries protect these rights.
